J.C. Chase writes about people and the systems they build once they’ve convinced themselves they’re doing the right thing. His books move between literary unease, straight thriller, and outright mockery, but they keep landing on the same moment: the one where a reasonable decision quietly turns into something else. Technology shows up often, not because he set out to write about it, but because that’s usually where the moment is currently hiding. He is a native of Montecito, California, where he is probably still deciding which moment he’s in.
